What’s the Rumpus All About?

It looked like the party was well under way at the Rumpus Room on Friday night. The bar area beyond the doorway was thick with revelers, and the dining room was full as well. A strong bar program that’s focused on beers and spirits more so than wines frames the foundation here, and the menu reflects that. Some of the menu crafted by corporate chef Adam Siegel and executive chef Andrew Ruiz evokes English pub and homey dinners, but with polish, flare and mountains of flavor.

“The Rumpus Room” may seem like a curious name for a restaurant group that prides itself on fine dining and wine lists. And, indeed, the Rumpus Room is intended to be different from the others. The décor itself is worth a visit. Filled with European flavor – this place would be at home in a city like Vienna or Budapest. All entrees have been expertly prepared and the beer list is extensive and includes a delightful rye beer from Michigan. The Rumpus Room feels like a very good fit for Milwaukee.

It’s definitely a meat-lovers menu (beer cheese soup with pork belly, veal meatloaf, Scotch egg, pork shoulder and of course a charcuterie corner where you can get sliced meats). They also have an amazingly extensive beer and drink menu with tabs for whiskey, bourbon, gin, vodka, tequila, etc. The new hot spot in town is a “must experience” restaurant for everyone!
